Hefei, China — July 1, 2025 — Packaging pioneer Soma Package Ltd. today launched its new “Trace-Green” courier bag, an industry-first mailer that pairs degradable poly film with a built-in QR code that displays live carbon and compliance data to American shoppers.

Engineered from a corn-starch–based resin, the bag begins to break down into biomass and water within industrial composting conditions, leaving zero micro-plastic residue. All graphics are produced on a Heidelberg 12-station press using low-VOC, heavy-metal-free inks that meet both REACH and California Prop 65 requirements.

What sets Trace-Green apart is an embedded, blockchain-secured ID tag. Scanning the QR code reveals the mailer’s full life cycle: extrusion lot, printing batch, ISO9001 inspection results, and cradle-to-gate CO₂ footprint verified by a third-party auditor. “American consumers want transparency,” said PR Manager Byron Jiang. “We’re giving brands a turnkey way to prove their packaging is genuinely eco-responsible.”

Soma’s OEM/ODM workflow allows clients to tailor dimensions, film thickness, glue strip strength, and even the QR landing page design. All development is overseen by a Six Sigma–certified engineering team, ensuring defect rates below 0.3 % and complete traceability from raw pellet to packed pallet.

Beta testing with a Seattle-based outdoor retailer showed a 28 % reduction in packaging emissions compared with conventional mailers and a 19-point lift in customer trust scores after shoppers scanned the code.
